Family Tree – Changes in the last 12 months or more

Information gleaned from routine Family History research (such as births, marriages and deaths and census returns) is just added as it’s found and not reported on this page.

Next update will include

·                     What you tell me !!  Please look through your part of the tree, and see what I’m missing … places and hobbies are most welcome!

2025-26        Continued the UK 1921 census; as at Jan 2026 I have covered most folk with surnames A-G – the tree now covers 12,712 individuals in 4,241 families.

Aug 2024 – I have started looking up the UK 2021 census; so far covered surnames A-C … it’s a long job!

Jul/Aug 2021 – A partial update of the Birch family, plus a “mental detour” when I looked at a few other branches! Sadly, I received news of the deaths of two members of the Australian branch of the Moores family.

Nov 2020 – The coronavirus has given me a bit more time to do research! Another G-Grandparent, this time the Moore family (not Moores!). This spell of research has identified the first of my 512 great great great great great great great great great great grandparents!

April 2020 – Another G-grandparent; on my side, the Harris/Benson ancestors. I’m doing more while in Corona-virus lockdown!!

January 2020 – Another Great-grandparent’s family … Katie’s FLEMING ancestors.

November 2019 – Another GG, on my side the COOK family.

October 2019 – another GG analysed and updated, on Katie’s side, the SUNDERLAND family. The family tree now covers over 10,000 individuals!

August 2019 – another GG analysed and updated, on my side, the MOORES family.

March 2019 – major updates to our great-grandparents’ descendents and antecedents; on Katie’s side the MYERS and CLARK, on my side the MARKHAM families.

October 2018 – Minor updates, but extensive research on BARROW and LEONARD families

June 2018

·         Lots of updates, notably the descendents of John and Alice Birch.

Feb 2018

·         Lots of updates … I have managed to go a bit further ”upwards” (back in time) and downwards (more recent); inevitably this means sideways as well!

·         I now have a subset of this tree on the Ancestry database; those of you who have access to Ancestry can find it as “Harris-Clark family tree” (those who don’t may be able to lok at it via their public library); the Ancestry system contains links to the supporting documents, such as BMD or census records.

Sept 2017

In a fit of madness, I thought I’d compute some statistics from the family history. Prototype results now there – average age of first marriage, over time. It will be extended shortly.

August 2017

I have not been keeping this page up-to-date!  So let me tell you what I have  been doing recently.

I am copying significant parts of this tree onto an “Ancestry tree” on the Ancestry database; the main reason for this is that the Ancestry software makes finding additional information about someone much easier if you have their basic details on a “tree”. This one is called the “Harris-Clark” family tree.

This has produced lots of detail for our ancestors 2-3 generations back, which I have been copying to this one – so for example I’m getting quite a lot of exact dates of birth, christening or death from these records. I am NOT adding “known to be living” people onto Ancestry – even though such names are not generally visible – for reasons of privacy.
