the resurrection of the body, |
The Bible talks
about a new, eternal physical body to replace the one that decays after
death. |
When
Jesus was raised from the dead, as we have seen, it was a new life, not a
resuscitation; He had a body “like the old one, but different”; it could be
touched, move, eat food, breathe and so on, just like the old body – but it
could now move through locked doors, travel at speed, and more, that the for
old body would be impossible.
In
1 Corinthians 15 Paul talks about our resurrection bodies along similar lines.
Our new ones will be immortal, imperishable … like our former ones, but vastly
different.
Only
a fool would be dogmatic about these things – the Bible doesn’t say a lot about
them; it is far more concerned about our relationship with Jesus Christ NOW!
But there are enough hints and tips to know that we will be given new bodies,
and that sickness, pain and death (and aging!) will be no more.
Why
is this important?
·
It
doesn’t matter so much if our human bodies suffer … we won’t have them for
eternity!
